Set within The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, The
Penrose Room reimagines one of America’s most
storied dining destinations through a layered interior
narrative shaped by legacy, landscape, and cultural
exchange. Founded in 1918 by Spencer and Julie Penrose,
the resort’s spirit of adventure and refined European
influence informs a design approach that bridges Old
World elegance with the mythology of the American
West.
Working in close dialogue with this heritage, Tihany
Design conceived a sequence of richly detailed
environments, from an intimate arrival foyer to a lounge
inspired by the conviviality of the Western saloon,
reinterpreted through warm wood tones, leather
detailing, and curated objects from the Penroses’ global
travels. At its core, three distinct dining rooms express
themes of ambition and cosmopolitan sophistication
through tactile metals, jewel-toned finishes, and
sculptural lighting, transforming The Penrose Room into a
contemporary stage for ritual and celebration.
