Oro Restaurant
Oro Restaurant Hotel Cipriani, Venice, Italy. Hotel Cipriani has been a hallmark of hospitality and a favorite amongst cognoscenti and Hollywood elite since opening in 1956. Located in the space formerly occupied by Fortuny, Oro is a contemporary Venetian restaurant featuring a unique design inspired by the surrounding city rich in culture, wealth, and tradition. Tihany designed the four distinctive spaces which combine to form the refined new restaurant at Venice’s most celebrated hotel. As one of the city’s most desirable alfresco dining areas, the expansive terrace of Oro provides open views to the serene Rio di San Giorgio. Inside, a warm and sophisticated Enoteca is located at the entrance. Designed to encourage wine tasting and social events, the room features a classic bar adorned with hand laid mosaics, custom high tables and chairs, and a glass-enclosed wine display.

Connecting the Enoteca to the main dining room is a multifunctional space that showcases the restaurant’s new open kitchen and permanent buffet. Influenced by the palazzos of Venice, the main dining room is elegant and luxurious yet contemporary and current. The room is centered with a domed gold leaf ceiling from which a magnificent, custom-made Murano glass chandelier hangs. Traditional Venetian terrazzo graces the floor in modern colors and lines. Custom furniture and curved banquettes complement the existing architectural features of the room while providing views to the lagoon outside. Anchoring the space are three significant sculptures by Luciano Vistosi, one of the greatest Venetian glass artists.
